Manchester United closed the gap on league leaders Manchester City, with a fine display at the Emirates Stadium. Goals from man of the match Antonio Valencia & Danny Welbeck were enough to send Arsenal to their third consecutive defeat in as many games.
United steamrolled through the first half but couldn’t finish off their chances. Both Nani & Valencia troubled Arsenal’s fullbacks and were rewarded with a goal just before half time after Ryan Giggs showed Nani how to cross by providing an assist to Valencia who powered home a header from the far post.
Arsenal pushed forward in the 2nd half and was duly rewarded a goal scored by none other than Robin Van Persie. The dutch man has been in fine form of late and currently lead the goal scoring charts in the Premier League.
Sir Alex Ferguson had to reshuffle his team after Nani went out injured, by slotting in Valencia at right back to accomodate Park Ji Sung & Paul Scholes in midfield. It was Valencia’s marauding run that lead to Danny Welbeck’s winner which now seems like a two horse race between the two Mancunian club in the Premier League.
