Manchester United topped Group C of their UEFA Champions League campaign after a 2-0 home win over Romanian champions Otelul Galati at Old Trafford.

A close range tap in by Antonia Valencia on the 8th minute of play and a late deflected shot by Wayne Rooney 3 minutes before normal time gave the 2010/2011 Champions League finalist a boost heading into the final 2 games of the group stages.

United are now top of Group C, level on points with Benfica who both have accumulated 8 points, albeit with a better goal difference. United are only a win away to clinch their spot in the knockout round of the UEFA Champions League.
