Manchester United were back to winning ways after a brace from both Nani & Rooney ensured a comprehensive victory over bottom table dwellers Wolverhampton Wanderers.
In a game which saw Jonny Evans deputising for the injured skipper, Nemanja Vidic, United were on the front foot from the first whistle. They only needed 17 minutes to open the scoring after Nani cuts inside from the left wing and stolled pass 2 Wolves defender before cutting back the shot on the right hand side of Wayne Hennessey’s goal.
Ten minutes later, Wayne Rooney broke his barren run of 8 games without a goal with a shot from outside the penalty box, which was a similar distance to Nani’s effort, to make it a comfortable 2 goal lead going into the break. Wolves managed to pull a goal back 2 minutes after the restart after a wonderful header from Steven Fletcher, who rose highest against the stand in captain, Patrice Evra.
However, United were quick to dampen any hope of a Wolves comeback with Nani again scoring after a low cross from Antonio Valencia & Rooney quickly added a second with a clinical finish to ensure the Red Devils claim maximum points after their heartbreak defeat in the hands of Basel in the UEFA Champions League.
